Big E Train Show 2012 : Saturday January 28th, 2012, I attended the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby show at the Big E in West Springfield Mass. This is a HUGE event encompassing four of the buildings. This was my first in almost 9 years. Below are some of the displays and layouts they had running. Sorry for the poor photography. I am used to shooting big trains, not little. I have not figured it out yet.

Leased engines on the P&W : This gallery will contain pictures of the various leased engines that the Providence And Worcester have used. I am not sure why but I am pretty fascinated with leased units. It must be due to seeing where these engines were originally used. For example the yellow engines where last used on the Union Pacific. The blue engine was a former CSX maintenance of way engine. It was rusted and all orange. I will post more of these type of engines as I take them. The P&W just leased 2 more and rumor has it an additional 2 are in the works. As of 7/6/2001 all the lessors that the P&W had have been returned to the leasing company. I was able to catch the last one, the 2624, in Plainfield before it headed back to Worcester. I believe there are still 2 more headed to the P&W though. **update** 7/30/2011 The other 2 leased units have arrived. They are SD60s seen in Plainfield.

Moon : I saw this as I backed into my driveway Thursday night the 8Th of December 2011 around 1130pm. The green spot in some are just a reflection off my lens. . Jupiter can be seen to the lower right. I have never seen a ring of clouds or vapor around the moon before.

My day at work July 16th : I work for a commercial Ambulance Service in Eastern Connecticut. Saturday I was in the New London area from 7am to about 11am. I was able to photograph some Providence And Worcester engines traveling light to just past Shaws Cove. All of a sudden they stopped and reversed back toward New London. I am not sure what they were doing as I did not get a chance to chase them. I took pictures of several Amtrak North East Regional and Acela trains again just south of Shaws cove and also while at the River Walk. My biggest catch of the day happened as soon as I entered New London. I was going to a favorite parking spot of mine under the Goldstar bridge when I noticed an Amtrak train stopped on the tracks. As I came around the corner I was greeted with an Amtrak P42DC engine pulling an assortment of cars. I have been working in New London for 8 years and this is the first I have seen a diesel engine. but what was also strange was the arrangement of the cars. after the engine was a coach, followed by a baggage car, I think I saw two cafe cars and some more coaches. This must have been a train to just move cars as they seemed empty of passengers. Non the less a neat catch. Also a thank you to the engineer who must have seen me waiting for the train to move to take pictures as he gave me one ring of the bell and a short very short horn blast to let me know he was about to move. Norfolk Southern : Pictures of Norfolk Southern trains from my travels. I work for a commercial ambulance service in Connecticut and transported a patient to a rehab hospital in Lancaster. Using Google Maps I found a yard not far from the hospital. Then, the Manassas Virginia pics where taken while waiting for a train to take me back to Connecticut. I had gone to Manassas for a recruiting session for Norfolk Southern. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on my mind set at any particular time) I did not get the job.

Plainfield Fire Co #1 : Here in this gallery are pictures of past and present fire apparatus from the Plainfield Fire Co #1 in Plainfield CT. The fist 5 pictures were scanned from 8x10s that were once hanging in the meeting hall. There are several other trucks that I have yet to find pictures of. When I do I will post them. I will also be posting the information on the truck in the captions below the picture.

Providence and Worcester Well Car Special 7/9/2012 : On July 9th, 2012 the Providence And Worcester Railroad had a special train from Davisville RI to Willimantic Connecticut. This train was a 112 car well car train that consited of containers and special equipment from the Amercia's Cup in Newport. The containers cantained the dissassembled boats. The New England Central RR was waiting in WIllimantic to continue this trains journey to Pier 80 in San Francisco. I was able to catch it in Central Village Connecticut. The High rail pick up was not part of the train, I saw that while waitng for the train.

The New ET 395 : Here are pictures of the New ET-395 For the Plainfield Volunteer Fire company #1 in CT. The first few with it unlettered were taken by on of the truck committed members. ***UPDATE**** As of 4-18-2011, ET 395 was still at the dealer in Rhode Island. It should be in the process of being lettered. ***UPDATE*** 5-04-2011: The truck has been lettered and hopefully delivered to the station this week. ***UPDATE*** The truck was delivered on 5-5. I hope to have pictures soon. ***UPDATE*** I had a training session on the new truck. I took some quick pictures to put on here. I hope to take a day and get better pictures of this and the others in my company. ***UPDATE*** 5/26/2011 ET 395 was placed into service replacing Engine 195. All future pictures of this truck will be shown in the gallery for Plainfield Fire.

Plainfield 10/17/2012 NR2 and NR3 : On October 17th 2012 I did a little rail-fanning in Plainfield, CT. I was able to catch not only Providence And Worcester's NR2 with a GMTX SD60 but also their NR3 as well as both trains were returning to Plainfield. NR3 waited patiently in the North end of the yard while NR2 finished their day. The SD60 is headed to Worcester for service after spending some time in New Haven.
